Wreath Laying at Arlington National Cemetery
Please join Flight #4 in a tribute to our departed brothers and sisters on Memorial Day 2017. Flight #4 will present a wreath on behalf of the National organization at 1615 hours on 29 May. The solemn ceremony consists of Flight members escorted by Sergeant of Guard laying a Wreath in Daedalian Colors at the Tomb of the Unknowns. This year marks the 43rd straight year Flight 4 has presented a wreath. Spouses and guests are welcome to join us in this remembrance to those "that have gone before." Sixteen original charter members rest in Arlington in addition to hundreds of former Daedalians. Unfortunately, transportation directly to the tomb remains problematic with the Arlington authorities. This year Flight members are responsible for their own transportation to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Please note the following from Arlington: "Privately owned vehicles and commercial buses are not authorized to drive to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Parking is available at the Visitors Center paid parking lot. Please be aware that the parking lot reaches capacity early during peak tourism months from March through September." To mitigate the restrictions on travel, we recommend you arrive at Fort Myer near the old chapel entrance, the walk to the Tomb from the gate is approximately 1,800 feet via Meigs road and even less if the Farragut Drive gate on Ft. Myer is open. Individuals with Arlington passes may drive to the Tomb. We will meet at the Tomb no later than 1545 for a briefing by the Tomb guards, for a 1615 Presentation.
