Flight 13 Last Flights - In Memoriam
Colonel Ben M. Pollard, USAF (Ret), a Daedalian and member of Flight 13, flew his last flight on 11 November 2016.
He was commissioned in 1954 and retired in 1981. He flew F-105’s during the Vietnam War, was forced to eject over North Vietnam and spent six years as a prisoner of war. Colonel Pollard’s Celebration of Life was held on 2 December 2016.
Flight 13 will send a check for $100 to the Daedalian Scholarship Fund in the name of Colonel Ben M. Pollard.

I am sorry to let you know that my father – Capt Richard C Winkler USN, took his final flight on June 16, 2016.
He so enjoyed attending the Flight 13 meetings at Miramar. It was a pleasure for my brother and I to attend some of those meeting with him. A special thanks to a fellow Daedalian that picked him up at White Sands for some meetings also.
His service at Miramar National Cemetery will be on Aug 15, 2016 at 9:30 am.
Thanks again for the wonderful times that my father had with his fellow pilots.

A member of San Diego Flight 13, CDR David E. Clement, USN (Ret), flew his last flight on April 27, 2016.
Flight 13 will make a $100 contribution to the Daedalian Foundation Scholarship Fund in honor of CDR David E. Clement.

COL Coats will be buried next to his wife at the National Cemetery in Riverside, CA. No funeral or memorial service is planned.
Last Flight Notice for Capt. Dennis M. Stewart, USAFR (Ret)
Capt. Dennis M. Stewart flew his last flight on 16 January 2014. He was a lifetime Daedalian and a member of Flight 13.
A burial service will be held at 1100 on Thursday, 13 February, at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery on Pt. Loma, San Diego. Flight 13 members are invited to attend. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Capt. Stewart’s daughter Pam either by email, firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone to (760) 330-3320.
LtCol Roger W. Drinkwalter, USAF Ret, flew his last flight on 13 January 2014. He was a lifetime Daedalian and a member of Flight 13 since 1991. He flew B-17’s during WWII, was shot down over Kaiserlauten and was a POW in Stalag 1 for the remainder of the war.
His funeral will be held at 1100 on Thursday, 23 January, in Mission Valley at First United Methodist Church, 2111 Camino del Rio S, San Diego, CA 92108. A reception will follow at the church. Flight 13 Members are invited to attend.
