Gliding, Friends and Food! What's Not to Like?
On September 19th there will be a “dual” meeting at the Caesar Creek Soaring Club. There should be 3 gliders and tow planes available for approximately $50 a flight. Instructions for glider sign-ups are found below. Slots will fill up fast – so don’t delay in signing up for this fun-filled day. Following flying we will have a catered dinner and receive an update on what’s happening at the soaring club. Menu: The menu will consist of hamburgers; hot dogs; grilled chicken breasts; pulled pork, buns, condiments; potato salad; fruit salad; cole slaw; macaroni and cheese; and assorted pies for dessert. Coffee will be available, and wine for toasting will be on the tables. Price of the meal will be $30 which includes tip and one free drink (bottled water, soda, beer or wine) of your choice. For this month you must pay by cash or check--no credit cards can be accepted. Reservations: Please call our Provost Marshall, Ed Mentzer, at 937-426-8807, by COB 14 September, as McCoy Catering requires final count the next day, 15 September. If you prefer e-mail, Ed will take e-mail reservations at: If you make your reservation via e-mail, Ed will send you a confirmation. If you do not get a confirmation, call Ed to make sure your e-mail was received by him. You may also use the Apollo website ( to sign up. If you use Apollo make sure you have included your spouse or guest, as appropriate. Cancellations must be made prior to 15 September, to avoid being billed for the price of the meal. Glider Flight Sign-up: You will need to tell Ed Mentzer when you make your reservation, 937-426-8807, if you would like to take a glider flight and at what time you would like to go. Flights will cost $50 and will last approximately 20 minutes. Flights will brief and take-off on the hour and half hour starting at 3:30, or earlier if necessary. The last flight will take-off at 6:30. You must call or email Ed ( if you wish to take a flight NLT Thursday, 14 September in order to insure we have sufficient glider and tow pilots, and ground crew.
