Jeff Olesen, U-2 pilot and test pilot will tell us about his experiences flying the "Dragon Lady". The Lockheed U-2, nicknamed "Dragon Lady", is an American single-jet engine, ultra-high altitude reconnaissance aircraft operated by the United States Air Force and previously flown by the Central Intelligence Agency. It provides day and night, high-altitude, all-weather intelligence gathering. Vice Flight Captain, Jim Maloney, called the April 17, 2019, Le May 16 Flight, Daedalian Meeting to order at 11:30 P.M. at the Papillion Shadow Lake Hy-Vee with 37 members present . Mike Wise offered the invocation and Mike Tabler led the Pledge of Allegiance. Provost Marshall, Jim Harford, offered toasts. A meat loaf entrée or a chef’s salad was served. Following the meal, the scheduled speaker had a conflict and there was no presentation. The flight held a short business meeting. The flight approved giving up to a $1000 stipend to the flight member attending the National Convention to receive several awards that have been bestowed to the flight. The flight also discussed how to deal with memorabilia items lost in the flooding of our previous meeting place, the Bellevue Industrial Social Hall. Several flight members will soon view and assess the damage to our memorabilia and other associated flight possessions. Gary Spivey won the Scholarship Fund “give away” at this meeting.
